Dirty clothes end up on the bedroom chair, the back of the door or the bathroom floor when there is nowhere obvious to put them. This basket gives them a place. It pops open into a tall, free-standing hamper that fits in the corner of a bedroom or bathroom, and when laundry day is done it twists and folds down into a flat round disc that slips behind a cupboard or under the bed.

The sides are an open mesh held in shape by a flexible spring frame, so air moves through the clothes instead of trapping sweat and damp the way a closed plastic bin does, and the basket weighs almost nothing. Fabric binding runs along every edge.

A carry handle on each side lets you take a full load to the washing machine, the roof or the balcony line and back. Some baskets also have a small mesh side pocket, handy for socks or a pair of pegs.

It is made for dry, everyday laundry, toys and soft things. A mesh basket is not rigid, so do not overload it with heavy wet washing, and let the mesh dry before folding it away so it does not smell musty. It wipes clean or can be rinsed by hand.

Colour is random: the basket is supplied in whichever colour is in stock at dispatch - usually blue, pink, green, dark blue or purple.
