Most of the oil in a Pakistani kitchen goes in by eye, straight from the bottle or the tin - and a tawa, a baking tray or an air fryer basket rarely needs as much as ends up in it. This bottle gives you two ways to use exactly what you need, from the same container.

Press the lever by the handle and it sprays a fine, even mist from the side nozzle - a light coat for air fryer chips and pakoras, a greased tawa for parathas, a baking tray, or a salad. Push down the button on the lid and a pour spout flips open for the normal steady stream you want for a salan or a karahi. Press the lid shut and it locks, and a silicone seal inside keeps it from leaking or dripping down the side.

The body is clear glass, so you always know how much oil is left, and it holds 470 ml. It stands about 18.5 cm tall with a wide handle that is comfortable to grip with oily fingers. The top unscrews for refilling and cleaning, and a flexible suction tube draws oil from the bottom of the bottle so it keeps spraying until nearly empty.

It works best with thin, liquid oils - sunflower, canola, corn, olive or mustard oil. Thick or solid fats such as desi ghee, or coconut oil that has set in the cold, will not spray and can block the nozzle. Spray onto the pan or the food rather than towards an open flame. To clean the nozzle, fill with warm water and spray it through.

The bottle is glass, so handle it with care. Colour is random: it comes with whichever lid colour is in stock at dispatch - green, yellow, beige or black.
