About Mini Pull-String Food Chopper - Manual Garlic, Onion, Chilli, Vegetable & Meat Chopper

Mincing garlic and ginger for a handi, or chopping green chillies and onion for a salad, is the fiddliest part of cooking a Pakistani meal - sticky fingers, a smell that stays on your hands, and a chopping board to wash. This chopper does it in a few seconds. Drop the pieces into the bowl, close the lid, and pull the cord. Each pull spins the blade, and roughly ten pulls turn garlic cloves into a fine paste-ready mince.

You control how fine it goes by how many times you pull: a few pulls for a coarse chop of onion or tomato, more for finely minced garlic, ginger, chillies, coriander or spring onion. It also handles nuts, boiled vegetables and small cubes of boneless meat or chicken for a quick chopped mix.

It runs entirely by hand, so there is no plug, no battery and nothing to charge - it works during load shedding and goes anywhere, from the kitchen counter to a picnic. The blade is 304 stainless steel and the body is food-grade plastic.

It is a small chopper, sized for a few cloves, a small onion or a handful of chillies at a time rather than a full kilo of keema. Cut larger vegetables and meat into small pieces first, and never put in bones, ice or frozen meat - they will blunt or jam the blade. Handle the blade carefully when washing, as it is sharp. Rinse the bowl and blade after use; wipe the lid rather than soaking it, since the pull-cord mechanism sits inside.

Colour is random: the chopper is supplied in whichever trim colour is in stock at dispatch.
