Every car collects the same rubbish: used tissues, toffee and biscuit wrappers, parking slips, petrol receipts and the odd banana peel on a long drive. Without a bin it ends up stuffed in the door pocket or rolling around on the floor. This one keeps it in one place, with a lid so it stays out of sight.

The domed lid has a flap marked PUSH. Press it with a finger and it tips inward to let the rubbish drop in, then a small spring swings it shut again, so the bin never sits open showing its contents. To empty it, lift the whole lid off the body.

The body is slim and tapers down in steps, so it sits in a cup holder in the centre console or stands in a door pocket, where it is within reach of the driver or a passenger. It is light, rigid plastic that rinses clean under a tap.

It is a small bin for dry, everyday rubbish, sized to fit where a drink would go - it does give up that cup holder or pocket while it is in place, and very narrow or very shallow holders may not take it. It is not an ashtray: never put a lit cigarette or match in it, as the plastic will melt.

Colour is random: the lid is supplied in whichever colour is in stock at dispatch - red, blue, grey or another colour - with a black body.
